my child hasn’t started yet — which photos do I use?
ordinary photos of your child are enough, three is already plenty. if you have photos of the taster morning, the playground or the new backpack, all the better. when you make the book, briefly mention that your child is about to start school, and we write the story around that.
does a book like this help with settling in?
seeing beforehand what’s going to happen gives a child something to hold on to: this is what the classroom looks like, that’s where your coat goes, and dad will be back in the playground later. a story where your child goes to school themselves makes that concrete — and gives you something to talk about together in the weeks before.
my child starts mid-year — does this work too?
yes. in the netherlands children can start primary school from their fourth birthday, so first school days happen all year round. you can make the book at any moment — just before the first day, or afterwards as a keepsake.
school starts at the end of august — when should I order?
the preview is ready in a few minutes, but printing and delivery take time. you see the current delivery time at checkout — so make the book during the summer holidays, not in the last week of august.
