about fonkle

why fonkle exists

fonkle started as a gift that didn’t exist yet. we were expecting a baby ourselves and wanted to read bedtime stories about things we had actually done together. not just dragons and faraway kingdoms, but that one day at the beach. that book was nowhere to be found. so we built it.

these days we make those books for anyone who wants to keep such a moment: parents, grandparents, godparents. every book is made exactly once, for one child.

how a book is made

you upload 3 to 30 photos from a holiday, a party or just an ordinary good day. we write a story around them and illustrate every page in a style you choose. you leaf through the complete book for free first; only when it’s right do you have it printed.

technology helps us write and draw, but you decide what goes in the book: you pick the photos, adjust what you want and approve every page yourself.

what happens to your photos

we only use your photos to draw the characters and scenes for your book. they’re stored encrypted, never shared or sold, and you can have them deleted.

the illustrations are made with google’s paid image api. under google’s terms, your photos are not used to train ai models. and we don’t train any models ourselves.
